Inspired by Matisse’s paper cutouts Sonya Winner Studio has designed the After Matisse iconic over time area rug. After Matisse has an almost sculptural quality due to its variable pile heights and hand carving. It has an irregular shape which makes the rug’s design highly modern.
The overall design of After Matisse rug is created from a playful collage composed by pieces if overlapping colors. The rug is made of pure New Zealand wool in 25 colors which replicate the effect of transparent colors mixing together.
Matisse’s paper cutouts inspired this iconic area rug designed by Sonya Winner Studio London. The irregular shaped modern rug has a sculptural quality with variable pile heights and hand carving. Seemingly smaller square rugs create a single continuous area rug from shades of blue, green, turquoise, yellow, orange, pink and purple. The effect of translucency can be seen in the aqua, turquoise, violet, rose and rust brown shades that emerge.
This contemporary designer rug is hand tufted by Good Weave artisan weavers. It is both handmade and hard wearing which makes is an easily washable rug.
