Description
One Step Up is a bookcase that combines form, material and function in a simple and chaste design.
The designer, Francis Cayouette, has been inspired by the ladder as an object and he has created a new flexible piece of furniture ideal for storage.
He has used recognizable elements taken from the form of the ladder and incorporated its mobile attributes. Details such as the fittings are emphasized and bring authenticity to the object. The natural ash wood and the industrial metal shelves create an unmatched dynamic, while the exquisite materials work great together, creating a complete expression.
In the designer's words: "I am very absorbed with multifunctionality, meaning products that can be used in various different ways. I wanted to design a flexible bookcase without an inconvenient disassembling process which easily could be moved around creating new spaces in the domestic home or the office. The classical ladder is easy to move around in the room where you need it. The idea of taking the form of the ladder seemed logical. The final result is a bookcase that looks like a ladder with exposed fittings and a wooden frame but with the quality and finish characterized by superb furniture."
You can place various One Step Up bookcases beside each other and create your own bookcase system. One Step Up bookcase can also be used as a light room divider.
