Weight Here XL is a polystone 3 arms candelabra with a minimalist beauty, designed by Danish studio KiBiSi for Menu.
The silhouettes of this series of candle holders are reminiscent of and inspired by the iconic typology of chamber candlesticks and candelabras used in past centuries.
This imposing candle holder is made of cast iron and polystone, a robust high-tech material that connects the classic stone appearance with the advantages of contemporary materials.
Polystone is a compound made up largely of polyurethane resin mixed with powdered stone additives that give it added weight and the "stone-like" feel that resulted in the materials name itself. It is very durable and highly effective at maintaining its finish.
The color, tactility and weight of the polystone material adds both masculinity and simplicity, and Weight Here serve as beacons of light embodying the rough outdoors of the North: vast, uncompromising and cut in stone.
It was love at first sight when we saw this stunning series of candle holders. The cast iron parts acknowledge historic artisanal techniques, and the polystone material references KiBiSi's link to modern architecture. These materials provide the candlesticks with a grounded feel and a solid, no-nonsense appearance.
While the stone-like material nearly looks archaic, it is contradicted, yet perfectly supplement by minimalist lines clearly referencing modern times. A perfect blend!
