Harri Koskinen

Harri Koskinen is a Finnish designer known for many iconic design products. He designs everything, from furniture, glassware and textiles, to watches, loudspeakers, houses and the Finlandia Vodka bottle.

While working with some of the largest design brands in the world, Harri has continuously been working with the renewal of the design industry of his homeland. He has also been awarded with some of the world’s most prestigious design awards, including Compasso d’Oro in 2004, the Pro Finlandia Award in 2007, and The Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Award in 2009.

Harri Koskinen’s first international breakthrough was in 1996 with the famous Block lamp. A unique lamp universally considered a Scandinavian design icon. The Block Lamp has been part of the MoMA’s permanent collection since 2000.

Other well-known products by Harri Koskinen are the candleholder Lantern designed for Iittala, the All Steel series of pots and pans also for Iittala, the Oma tableware range for Arabia, the Vakio watches designed for Issey Miyake, and many more.

In 2009 Harri Koskinen presented at the Milan International Furniture Fair his own brand, Harri Koskinen Works, under which he produces his own furniture range – such as Tablebench, Sofabed, Shelfsystem and the lamp Foldedlight.

Harri Koskinen’s design is characterized by functionality and strict aesthetic criteria. He is always looking for innovative solutions for both the consumer and the producer.
