Description
Colombina by Alessi is a sleek tray in brass with relief decoration and characteristic scalene triangle shape with rounded corners and continuous surface.
It is part of the "Extra Ordinary Metal" collection, which interprets, in an industrial key, an ancient goldsmithing technique known as Etruscan Granulation. Obtained through the cold deep drawing of brass, granulation creates a rich interaction with light that enhances the shapes of objects.
In this finish, the arrangement of the “granules” follows a geometric order generated by the Fibonacci sequence, named after the Italian mathematician who identified the numerical code behind the Golden Ratio, one of the main principles that governs shapes in nature
The Colombina tray is designed by Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas and is part of the Colombina collection. The characteristic rounded shape of the tray belongs to the main designing line for household products of these two architects.
It can be used for storing fresh vegetables in the kitchen or wonderfully fragrant rolls, croissants and pastries at the set breakfast table or in the entrance area for keys and accessories.
“Colombina collection is still a beautiful design project with a sculptural approach, composed of elegant, new and pleasing pieces, all excitingly created in new and different material. This design reveals an awareness of the rituals of the table that is very open to the evolution of contemporary living, with its playful aspect and its amenability to rearranging the composition of the pieces on the table, as well as its philosophy of change in general”
Alberto Alessi
