British brassware manufacturer Triflow Concepts commissioned famous architect Zaha Hadid in order to explore together the possibilities of implementing new manufacturing technologies and create the faucet of the future.

Hadid used the most advanced 3-D design techniques to create a faucet which is a real sculpture. The design is inspired by the fluidity of water, the single-piece organic form impresses and renders the Zaha Hadid Triflow a genuine work of art. Its unique shape is instantly recognizable as the most recent evolution of Zaha Hadid’s distinctive style. Organic and surprising, the sculptural sensibility of the tap’s fluid form makes the bold and elegant gesture of a signature piece.

The Zaha Hadid Triflow Faucet is built with a casting method that uses molds with a “ceramic center”. It is the most modern process for the manufacture of complex metal objects and has not been used in the past for making a faucet. According to Zaha Hadid: “By applying advanced 3D software to our experiments into the viscosity of liquids, we were able to explore complex forms and their productivity for domestic environments. A major benefit of this design language is that you can create something that not only appears continuous, but also blends seamlessly with the ergonomic needs of a tap.”

In addition the Zaha Hadid Triflow Faucet also features the Triflow patented technology which provides filtered water and characterizes all “Triflow Concepts” products. Of course, it is equipped with the most sophisticated mechanism Triflow has on offer. The system is activated by a touch button and has a built-in filter replacement indicator light on the front side of the faucet, so you don’t need to check the filter.

Triflow Concepts is an interesting case of a company which managed to evolve quickly to a significant player in their market sector, by capitalizing on a simple, but extremely utilitarian idea: the Triflow System, which stands for “triple-flow”. The Triflow System, apart from the two traditional flows of cold and hot water also has a third waterway which provides filtered water through a built-in filter. The benefit is a permanent supply of filtered water from a sprout which is isolated completely from unfiltered cold and hot water streams. The dedicated water tube is built-in inside the faucet, so you avoid the inconvenience of scattered tubes and extra “tap sprouts” in your basin.

At a cost of 5000€ +, the Zaha Hadid Triflow Faucet is more of a technology development platform, rather than a viable commercial product. If you can splash the cash however, it is available in two versions: The “High Model” and the “Low Model”,  both of which are equally impressive.
