“The Art of Clean Up” by Ursus Wehrli.

by Andreas Rekopoulos

The upcoming book entitled “The Art of Clean Up” by Swiss artist and comedian Ursus Wehrli is stuffed with beautiful photos were Wehrli applies his love for organization to everyday objects and situations.

In his astonishing photos, Ursus Wehrli is literally putting everything in order. The “clean-up” process relies on criteria such as size, color, shape and type of object. Thus, compulsion meets humor as “chaos” is replaced by order.

Is this the manifesto of square logic expressed through images or is it the manifesto of absolute compulsion? It could even be defined as a “neat” kind of modern art. Personally, I perceive it as a mockery of the concept of “order” and also a documentation of the subjectivity of the term. Enjoy more images after the jump, and decide how it matches your own perception.
