Magnetic floating lamps by Crealev.

by Andreas Rekopoulos

Crealev Floating Lamps are irresistible conversation starters. The key to their magic is a patented magnetic levitation device which allows them to deceive gravity.

Dutch company Crealev is a Father-Daughter joint venture by Ger Jansen and Angela Jansen. At the moment they make two different model of levitating table lamps, the sleek and minimalist “Eclipse” and the traditional looking “Silhouette”. What makes the lamps floating is the integrated levitation technology. It consists out of electromagnetic components and a sophisticated control system. Moreover both lamps employ the very latest LED technology for lower power consumption. With a touch of your fingertip, the lamp can be dimmed to the intensity you require…. Oh and did we mention it also levitates?

The two lamp models found in the Crealev collection are similar, yet different.

The “Silhouette” is a classic table lamp that evokes memories of old fashioned lamps, but when you see the floating part, you realize this is designed for the future. The lamp consists out of a handcrafted wooden base with a high glossy black finish. Attached is a stylish black fabric covered power cable. The conical shaped lampshade is manufactured in matt black fabric with a pearl white inner side. The light flows through the openings of the mirror which covers the lower part of the lampshade

The “Eclipse” on the other side is designed with the focus on modernism. It consists of a hand-crafted glass foot which seems to sprout from the bottom, supporting the straight sided lampshade. The smooth curving shape gives the lamp a highly elegant composure. The lamp has a transparent glass base. Thus you can see the fabric covered power cord running inside. The drum shaped lampshade can be featured in matt black or reflective silver finishes. Both have a pearl white inner side furnishing. The lower part of the lampshade is topped with a mirror, through its openings the light flows outside. At the bottom of the lower part, there’s the fingertip light switch.

However both lamps share the same groundbreaking leviatation technology that makes the float. For additional information visit Crealev.
