The Aviva Chair by Italian company Magis is a classic piece of contemporary Design. It was originally designed by French architect Marc Berthier in 1979 and underwent minor changes when Magis re-released Aviva in 2010.

Magis Aviva folding chair is an elegant, robust and compact folding chair made of beech wood. The design is minimalist and simple, with emphasis on quality and usability. It is functional and it refuses any decorations and flourishes. When Aviva is folded it turns almost flat, thus occupying minimal space for easy storage. The difference with most foldable chairs is that apart from being elegant, Aviva is also very robust and comfortable. This simple yet ingenious chair has slight dents on the seat and the backrest with which it adapts to the human body.

One man’s junk is another man’s treasure, says a well known idiom. While most people are looking at discarded objects and just see garbage, artists Dario Tironi and Koji Yoshida see valuable raw materials for his spectacular junk sculptures.

The work of Dario Tironi and Koji Yoshida gives a whole new meaning to the concept of recycling. Old toys, discarded computer components, broken calculators, packaging materials, household accessories, and any other strange object blend harmoniously in the creations of the Italian artist. These striking sculptures which are made from glued together junk are called THINGS and represent animals and humans alike.

According to the artists their sculptures represent the connection of biological evolution to environmental pollution and e junk accumulation. The intended message is that the evolution of species presupposes respect for the environment and the responsible waste management of the myriad rubbish constantly produced by our modern technological civilization.

Lastika Chair by Velichko Velikov for LAGO

The Lastika Chair was designed by Velichko Velikov for Italian furniture manufacturer LAGO and promises innovative design, comfort and convenience.

It was first introduced in Salone Mobile Milan 2011 and it is inspired by the shape of a flower, more specifically by a daisy. When you sit on it, you are supported by elastic bands that make up the seat and create a rocking sensation, although the structure of the seat offers excellent support. In addition the Lastika Chair is stackable for ease of storage. The construction is simple and innovative the seat consists of a metal tube frame and 40 colored flexible straps that simulate the leaves of a daisy.
