Balance Salt and Pepper Set

The Balance salt and pepper set was inspired by mind-relaxing balancing stones, it is composed of three pebble shaped containers and its design is relaxing and harmonious.

Maybe you have heard of a stone balancing, an art form in which rocks are balanced on top of one another in various positions. This discipline requires patience and sensitivity, it takes time, it relaxes you and helps you focus, in a zen-like manner. The Balance salt and pepper set is inspired by this art form, except that its pieces are made to easily stack, taking the balancing act out of the equation.

Awesome Weather Photography by Sean R. Heavey

This picture of a perfect storm has earned nicknames such as: “The Eye of God” and “Mothership”. Upon seeing this impressive storm photo, images from science fiction movies come to mind, as this scene could easily be the descent of an alien spaceship. However it is a real photograph shot by photographer and storm chaser Sean R. Heavey.

At first glance, it is hard to believe that this picture was not produced digitally, paradoxically however, it is a real storm photo. It was taken last July near Glasgow in Montana, USA, during a super-cell storm that was around five to ten miles in diameter with winds of around 85 mph speed. This photograph won honorable mention at the National Geographic Photography Contest 2010.

Slice Scissors by Karim Rashid.

Karim Rashid Slice Scissors

With the Slice Scissors prolific designer Karim Rashid has done it again, he transformed a seemingly indifferent item, such as a scissors, into a desirable design object.

Slice is an American brand which specializes in a particular type of products, cutting tools. As their motto suggests, the goal is to slice, and do it with style, beauty, and grace. That’s why every Slice™ cutting tool is a passionate celebration of bold design and extraordinary function. When such a focused brand collaborates with a designer like Rashid we do expect something extraordinary, and they surely did deliver.

The Slice Scissors is crafted from Japanese stainless steel and its blades are powerful and sharp, while the hand-polished finger-grips are incredibly comfortable for both lefties and righties. Its curvy shape resembles a metal sculpture and in conjunction with its unique lay-flat silhouette make this pair of scissors worthy of it’s own pedestal. Frankly I would get a Slice Scissors even if I never use it, just to have it sitting on my desk.
