Diamantini & Domeniconi Mozia Clock.

Category: Decoration

mozia-clock

The Mozia clock was designed by Italian architect Giovanni Levanti for Diamantini & Domeniconi.

The clock design is minimalist and simple, but also practical and joyful. The conical aluminum dish ads a nice three dimensional touch, while the intense colors provide a pop-art aesthetic. The bold colors of the dish are combined ideally with the clock hands’ aesthetical abstraction, creating a clock with a pleasant and playful presence.

MINI and the parent company BMW do not seem to cease presenting new innovations. After the presentation of the largest MINI ever created, the new MINI COUNTRYMAN, they unveiled the smallest vehicle in the MINI range, MINI Scooter E Concept.

The new scooter is expected to be presented officially at the Paris Motor Show in October, but the first details and pictures of this new vehicle have already appeared in the BMW Facebook page. This is an all-electric vehicle intended exclusively for urban use. Its range is 100 km and the top speed 50km, while the petrol cap has been replaced by a Schuko plug.

The Mini Scooter stands out due to its amazing design and the snap-in smartphone adapter. The first public photos of Mini Scooter are accompanied by an iPhone, but it is rumored that its built-in dock will be offered in different versions for various Smartphones based on symbian, android, windows mobile, etc. When the smartphone is connected to the dock of the scooter, the rider will see the data of the vehicle, such as battery voltage, engine status, speed, range, temperature etc. on the screen. MagicBox Colombo Cordless DECT Phone.

Category: Technology

Colombo Cordless Phone

Most cordless DECT phones are impersonal objects made from black or silver plastic with minimum design differentiation, however that is not the case with the Colombo cordless DECT phone by Magicbox.

The Magicbox Colombo is one of the very few cordless phones with design and character. Its retro-futuristic line is a clear reference to the sci-fi design of the late 60s and early 70s. The name “Colombo” is a tribute the Italian designer Joe Colombo who created his famous ‘machines for living’ in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

The contours of the angled handset combined with the crystal clear inverse display make the Colombo a real pleasure to use as well as to look at. The Magicbox Colombo features an innovative retro design that combines great looks with functionality. The Colombo is available in a wide variety of bright colors such as lemon-yellow, white and coral.

Architectural Footwear by United Nude.

Category: Fashion

United Nude Women Shoes

United Nude is the brain child of Dutch architect Rem D Koolhaas and British shoemaker Galahad Clark. A clear architectural influence is evident in all United Nude footwear, while the clean geometric forms and innovative design are clearly the firm’s trademarks.

Following the successful launch of the now classic Möbius shoe in 2003 (far right in photo), United Nude has launched countless other unique products. Among our favorite is the Eamz model (center of photo) which is a tribute to the legends of the modern design, Charles and Ray Eames, as the heel is a reference to the famous Lounge Chair designed by the Eames in 1960.

Mazzo Curtain Collection by Jeroen Vinken.

Category: Decoration

Mazzo Curtain Collection by Jeroen Vinken

Dutch Designer and artist Jeroen Vinken has recently presented a special series of curtains bearing the name Mazzo (meaning bouquet in Italian).

Apart from their stunning colors and their vivid dynamic patters, Vinken’s curtains also stand out due to the sophisticated manufacturing process. The weaving technique is done via computer-driven machinery and the creation of colors does not require the use of colored weft threads for each color. The material is made using the jacquard weaving technique whereby designs are created by the binding system and are therefore woven-in. It is woven using 3, or maximum 4, different colored weft threads on mid-grey warp yarn. Allowing the weft threads to come to the surface, to a greater or lesser degree creates secondary colors.

Pole Light Floor Lamp by Established & Sons.

Category: Lighting

Established & Sons Pole light

The Pole Light lamp was designed by Paul Cocksedge for British firm Established & Sons. It stands out mainly because it challenges the common perception that light travels in a straight line. Using a transparent acrylic tube similar to that found in the fiber optics, the Pole Light directs light to the desired angle.

The design is minimalist and architectural, while the contrast of the transparent acrylic tube with the coarse concrete base gives a postmodern look and feel, which inspires with its simplicity. Light travels from its source, embedded within the concrete base, up through the optical grade, precisely curved, transparent acrylic rod culminating in a bright beam appearing more than a meter from its original source. The achieved illusion is of bending light.

Purisme Carbon Fiber Women’s Handbags.

Category: Fashion

A stunning handbag is possibly the ultimate female accessory, however there are certainly many interesting offerings in the market, which makes it difficult for a company to really innovate.

Austrian firm Purisme though, has managed to present something truly unique, by combining fashion-forward design with advanced technology. The key is the use of carbon fiber, an advanced material which is characterized by low weight and increased durability. Carbon fiber is usually found in exotic constructions such as racing cars and luxury yachts. Purisme emancipates the material from its origins in the world of performance and technology and uses it for fashion accessories.

Purisme bags feature a distinctive design with a signature attribute, the soft-carbon material. The success of this unique design is the coexistence of high-tech aesthetics with femininity and elegance. A very hard to achieve combination, that gave birth to a very original and stylish luxury product.

Dreamfarm Clongs

The Clongs Click-Lock Sit-Up kitchen tongs by Dreamfarm, apart from the amazing design, also incorporates many ergonomic innovations that will make your daily cooking routine a little bit easier.

Due to its unique “bend” Clongs can sit on the kitchen bench without its tips touching down, that way counter tops stay clean and your tongs stay hygienic. Practically, this means that you don’t have to try to balance the tongs in the frying pan or the pot to grab something, you can simply leave it on the kitchen bench without worries.

Another very useful function is that you can open and lock your tongs easily with one hand thanks to its clever click-lock button mechanism. By using this neat spring-loaded mechanism you can simply press the Clongs with one hand against your body, or any other surface, and it will lock or unlock just like that. Clongs won the highly sought after “red dot design award” in 2010, due to its modern design and advanced ergonomics.
