Senz Umbrella, stylish and windproof.

Category: Fashion

Senz The Original Strom Umbrella

The Senz umbrella combines the most advanced windproof technology with stylish and eye catching design. It effortlessly slices through the wind, from a summer breeze to a heavy storm. Due to its smart design, the Senz umbrella will not invert, and is windproof up to wind force 10, that is 100 km/h winds!

An umbrella is one of the most common and useful accessories, but when the rain is combined with strong wind, it becomes dysfunctional. Its wide surface creates considerable wind resistance making it difficult to hold, and eventually it will “invert”. The Senz umbrella comes to fρee the world from these well-known “umbrella struggles”.

Born In Sweden Watering Can by Pascal Charmolu.

Category: Decoration Various

Born In Sweden Watering Can by Pascal Charmolu

Born in Sweden has managed to transform a humble watering can to an absolutely desirable design object. Designed by Pascal Charmolu this unique watering can, is minimalistic and simple, but at the same time visually striking – a combination not easy to achieve.

Ordinary watering cans tend to be utterly unsightly, and at the same time directing the water to the target, ιs not an easy task. The Born In Sweden Watering Can has a flexible silicone hose which ensures that the water goes where you want it. When not in use, a magnet keeps the hose upright/attached, practical and clever. So when it is time to water the plants, you don’t need to tilt the entire canister, just use the hose and the water flows to the desired direction, viola! No spillage.

Drawer Shelf by Keiji Ashizawa.

Category: Furniture

The drawer-shelf by Keiji Ashizawa is a fine example of Japanese design: sleek, minimalist and ingeniously simple. It consists of three drawers connected with rails that allow them to slide against each other.

A very functional piece of  furniture that will transform itself to adjust your needs, rather than just remain static. The possibility of sliding provides flexibility in decorative options, but it it also practical and efficient, as the upper surface can be easily expanded, utilizing the drawers as shelves, hence the name drawer-shelf.

Ashizawa’s creation will most likely appeal to the fans of minimalist design and to those that enjoy reconfiguring their living space often.

Michael Young PXR digital watches.

Category: Fashion

Michael Young PXR Digital Watch

The PXR digital wristwatches by Hong Kong based  British designer Michael Young, are amongst the most stylish digital watches I came across, and they also come at a surprisingly affordable price.

It all started with the utterly minimalist PXR-5. Following the initial success of the PXR-5 its replacement the PXR-6 was introduced (shown in the center of the picture). The phenomenally successful PXR-6 looks identical to the PXR-5 however it brings significant improvements. The PXR-6 has improved water resistance, improved durability, new mechanism improved blue night light and a stylish new presentation case. Finally the latest additions to Michael Young’s stunning range of wristwatches, are the PXR-7 and PXR-8 displayed to the left and right of the picture respectively.

The PXR series of watches is characterized by modern minimalist design, but personally I love the slightly retro feel of the design, a subtle reference to the angular digital clocks in the 1980s, which I wore as a kid.

Bird lamps by Zhili Liu.

Category: Lighting

bird-lamps-zhili-liu

Nature has become a source of inspiration for some of the most creative ideas. A typical example are the bird lamps by Chinese designer Zhili Liu.

Liu’s lamps remind of birds in iconic poses, such as for example the “Dove” model in the above photo, which creates associations with the familiar image of doves sitting on power lines. Liu’s birds really could not be simpler, they are an assortment of standard plain bulbs, but their arrangement is so well thought, that once the spectator listens to the name “bird Lamps” his mind immediately makes the connection.

Liu follows a clearly minimalist philosophy and prefers simple and lightweight shapes. At the same time he aims at using the minimum required materials, promoting in this way a responsible natural resource management.
