Zanotta Cavour writing desk by Carlo Mollino.

by Andreas Rekopoulos

Designed by architect and designer Carlo Mollino in 1949 the Cavour writing desk by Italian furniture firm Zanotta is one of the most stylish and unique desks ever created.

The fact that it is still in production after 60+ years and still looks modern, clean and dynamic says it all: great design, quality natural materials and great ergonomics are combined into an object with timeless appeal.

The Zanotta Cavour desk is sleek, streamlined and profoundly elegant. Its organic lines flow easily and the unique oak frame seems to just float into the air, since the cleverly designed support system utilizes the drawer unit as an almost invisible support. The Cavour desk is a timeless symbol of Italian design.

However except the great looking design the Cavour is also practical, at it provides ample storage space, without compromising its uniquely delicate form. In total there are 5 drawers, 2 shelves and a very elegant document holder. The frame is available in natural or wenge-stained oak, while the storage compartments are lacquered in glossy black. Finally the top is made of 12mm thick safety glass.

The Cavour is an absolutely magnificent desk that will add an unmistakable touch of class to any office or home.

Beautiful furniture, I personally very much like Zanotta. It is so elegant and stylish, especially Zanottas new Talamo bed. That’s my next bed !
